An ARFID book created specifically for adults
If you’re an adult with ARFID, you may have spent years being told you were “too picky,” needed to try harder, or simply needed to eat more variety.
But ARFID is much more complex than picky eating.
The Adult ARFID Guidebook offers a different way to understand your relationship with food—one that considers sensory needs, executive functioning, anxiety, interoception, neurodivergence, past experiences, and nervous system capacity.
Rather than focusing on eating “normally,” this book helps you explore what makes eating more accessible, supportive, and sustainable for you.
Inside the book
You’ll explore topics including:
Understanding your unique ARFID experience
ARFID, neurodivergence, and trauma
Creating more safety around food and eating
Understanding your sensory needs
Supporting autonomy and self-advocacy
Navigating executive functioning challenges around food
Shame, grief, and the emotional impact of ARFID
Exploring new foods without pressure
Building a personalized nourishment toolbox
Finding support that respects your needs
Throughout the book, you’ll also find reflection prompts, practical strategies, worksheets, and opportunities to experiment with what feels accessible to you.
Informed by lived experience
This book is informed by my work as a registered dietitian specializing in ARFID, current research, and the perspectives of more than 100 adults with ARFID who generously shared their lived experiences.
Their perspectives helped shape a resource that recognizes there is no single way ARFID looks—and no single path forward.
This book may be for you if…
You have ARFID or suspect you might.
Eating feels overwhelming, exhausting, sensory-heavy, anxiety-provoking, or simply uninteresting.
You struggle to recognize hunger, initiate eating, decide what to eat, prepare food, or eat consistently.
You want practical support without pressure to eat “normally.”
You’re looking for an approach to ARFID that respects neurodivergence, autonomy, and individual differences.
Or, you’re a caregiver or professional who wants to better understand the adult ARFID experience.
