Nutrition Counseling for ARFID & Neurodivergent Individuals

We offer neurodivergent-affirming nutrition counseling for individuals ages 16+ with ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), ARFID-like characteristics, and those navigating sensory differences, selective eating, co-occuring eating disorders or challenges with consistent nourishment.

Our approach is rooted in felt safety, autonomy, and collaboration—not pressure or rigid food rules.

We understand that eating is not just about food. It’s shaped by sensory experiences, nervous system responses, past experiences, and daily capacity.

Our goal is to support you in finding a way of eating that feels safer, more sustainable, and more supportive of your life

Our Approach

We take a neurodivergent-affirming and nervous system-informed approach, which means:

  • Prioritizing safety before expansion
  • Moving at your pace—no pressure to “just try foods”
  • Supporting sensory needs and preferences
  • Focusing on what works, not what “should” work
  • Building nourishment in a way that feels realistic and attainable
  • Supporting the nervous system before and during meals

We believe that when safety increases, flexibility often follows.

FAQ Section

Do you treat ARFID?

Yes. Supporting individuals with ARFID is a core focus of our practice. We take a neurodivergent-affirming, non-coercive approach that prioritizes safety, autonomy, and sustainable change.

We understand that this work is not quick or linear. Progress often happens slowly and in relationship—with space to build trust, explore what feels safe, and move at a pace that honors your nervous system.

Over time, this can create more capacity, flexibility, and ease with food—but always without pressure or force.

No. You do not need a formal diagnosis. We work with individuals who resonate with ARFID or experience challenges such as selective eating, sensory sensitivities, or difficulty eating consistently or experience other co-occuring eating disorders.

Sessions are collaborative, flexible, and tailored to you.

We may explore your current eating patterns, sensory experiences, safety needs, and goals. From there, we work together to identify small, realistic steps that feel supportive—without pressure or force.

Depending on your needs, sessions may also include:

  • Building skills that make eating more accessible (including executive functioning supports like planning, decision-making, and reducing overwhelm)
  • Identifying barriers to eating and exploring different solutions together
  • Navigating real-life scenarios that involve food (work, school, travel, social events, etc.)
  • Understanding your individual needs around food and how to accommodate them
  • Exploring ways to advocate for your needs in different settings
  • Creating supportive routines, environments, or systems that make eating easier
  • Integrating nervous system regulation tools before or during meals

Our work is not one-size-fits-all. It evolves over time and is guided by what feels most helpful, manageable, and relevant to your day-to-day life.

No. We do not use pressure-based or behavioral based approaches. Food exploration, if it happens, is always optional, gradual, and guided by your readiness and sense of safety.

Simply complete our Get Started form, and we’ll follow up within 1–2 business days to help match you with a provider.

At this time, we primarily work with individuals ages 16+. We also offer support for parents and caregivers navigating ARFID with their child.
